June 2012 Meeting

The June meeting will be held the 22nd thru the 24th with the main meeting date being the 23rd featuring Sue Fox, who has designed miniture glass paperweights, dollhouse minitures, canvaswork, and lampwork. Sue has loved glass artwork since she was a child.  She began her work in the late 1970′s with canvas work. She later transitioned into flamework in the 1990′s and in the mid1990′s she started with miniture glass paperweights.  In 2009, she began collaborating with Drew Ebelhare, who will also be attending our meeting. Drew Ebelhare was intrigued by glassblowing and wanted to be a glassblower. His persistences paid off. He began making paperweights around 1983, but not until 1990 did he take it to the next level. Over the years, he developed his skills in millefiori styles but his crown weight was his first success for the PCA TX in 1992.  He now works with his parnter in work and life, Sue Fox and enjoys his work. Ken Rosenfeld started paperweight making in the mid 1980′s. He is well known for his pumpkin patch designs. He believes that making individually every flower petal and leaf, by hand, one at a time. Encasing it in the crystal clear glass allows the lampwork to be sealed forever in its own little world.
