PAPERWEIGHT COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION OF TEXAS
SILENT AUCTION RULES
SELLERS: Any PCA TX member may enter as many paperweights and items as
they wish. Each item (lot) will be assigned a lot number and must be displayed
with a bid form showing the seller’s name, lot number, description and
provenance (if known) and minimum (reserve) bid, if any. Establishing a reserve
is the sole responsibility of the seller: simply enter the reserve or minimum as the
first bid. PCATX members will be happy to discuss any items with interested
participants; however PCATX will assume no responsibility for identifying items
or evaluating the price, condition or value of items for sale.
BUYERS: PCATX members and guests may bid on any item. To enter a bid,
simply write down your name and the bid amount. Minimum bid increments are:
$2.00 for a bid up to $50.00
$5.00 for a bid up to $100.00
$10.00 for all bids above $100.00
Remember that a 10% premium will be added to the final bid as a fundraiser
for PCATX.
CLOSING: In order to discourage last minute bids, the auction closing time will
NOT be announced in advance.
Auction close will be by surprise announcement some time after the meeting
break, so your final bid should be in by the end of the break.
The Treasurer will collect bid slips after the auction closes and sort them by
buyer name. Buyers should queue to pay their premiums (10% of each winning
bid) to PCATX. Payment of the premium should be in cash or check payable to
PCATX. Once the premium has been paid, buyers will receive their winning bid
slips, marked ‘PREMIUM PAID’.
Buyers should then present the winning bid sheet to the sellers and pay the
sellers in cash or by check in order to receive their weights. Sellers must not
accept payment before the buyers have paid their 10% premium to PCATX.
The generosity of your 10% premium added as a contribution to PCATX is
greatly appreciated.’
BUYERS: please remember you will need separate checks for PCATX and each
of the sellers from whom you purchase.
